Bislang unübertroffene Operationslehre zur Beckenchirurgie. "Alfred Isidor Amreich.[war] so etwas wie ein Bindeglied zwischen der frühen Berliner und der jüngeren Wiener Gynäkologie. Ließ er sich doch in seiner anschaulichen Vorlesung kaum eine Gelegenheit entgehen, die Bedeutung des `Ligamentum Mackenrodt` für die Klinik und Th…erapie des Kollumkarzinoms ausführlichst zu besprechen. Dies war der Ehrenname, den er (1958) dem Lig. cardinale `zur Erinnerung an den großen Gynäkologen Mackenrodt, der die Bedeutung des Beckenbindegewebes in operativer Hinsicht wohl am frühesten und genauesten erkannt hat`, gab. Hält man jedoch die lebenslangen Bemühungen Amreichs um die Klärung der Anatomie des weiblichen Beckensubserosums, speziell des Lig. cardinale dagegen, erscheint der Vorschlag von Luisi, das Lig. cardinale Phleboductus Amreich zu nennen, durchaus berechtigt. Am 22. April 1885 als Sohn eines niederösterreichischen Gemeindearztes geboren, studierte Amreich in Wien Medizin. Seine chirurgische Ausbildung erhielt er bei von Eiselsberg. (1923) habilitierte er sich unter dessen Nachfolger Heinrich von Peham. 1936 wurde er aus seiner großen Wiener Privatpraxis heraus zum Vorstand der Universitäts - Frauenklinik Innsbruck ernannt. Seine grundlegende Arbeit zur Anatomie und Technik der erweiterten vaginalen Karzinomoperation war 1924 erschienen, 1930 folgte seine immer noch unerreichte, zusammen mit Heinrich von Peham veröffentlichte, jedoch ausschließlich von ihm selbst verfasste Operationslehre, das klassische Werk einer anatomisch begründeten gynäkologischen Beckenchirurgie." - Beck, Geschichte der Gynäkologie u.
