Originally commissioned for a cancelled edition of Carroll's two Alice books (the other to be illustrated by Graham Ovenden), these were instead released as limited-edition silkscreen prints. For his subject as Alice, he chose the daughter of a friend Amelia Gatacre with William Gatacre serving as Hatter, and Amelia and her sister as Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Blake s silkscreens are reproduced herein alongside the main prose of Through the Looking Glass, as fold-out sheets. Bound in full, green, textured cloth, pressed flower endpapers, top-edge gilt; preserved in a drop-back clamshell box, covered in light brown cloth, with gilt titling on the spine, and a mounted Peter Blake illustration in green in a recessed section of the front cover, the interior of the box is lined with the pressed flower paper as well. The sides/edges of the cloth-covered slipcase show some light rubbing or discoloration to the cloth. The book is in fine condition.
