Gerade in Deutschland entstand in den letzten Jahren eine wahre Flut von Erinnerungstexten, die nicht allein die je einzelne, sondern umfassend kulturelle Identitäten verhandeln. Während literarische Autobiografien in besonderem Maße als Akte und Performanzen des öffentlichen Erinnerns gelesen werden können und damit immer schon Teil eines öffentlichen Diskurses sind, werden private Autobiografien in der historischen Forschung in verstärktem Maß als 'Quellen' herangezogen. Auf der anderen Seite hat die Erinnerungsforschung in den letzten Jahren den Authentizitätsanspruch von autobiografischer Erinnerung zusehends destabilisiert. Autobiografien und Familientexte, ob literarisch oder nicht, sind immer Teil einer aktiv betriebenen 'Erinnerungspolitik'. Wie wird welche Vergangenheit erinnert?
