The green cloth covered boards have some wear, scuffing from handling, storage, shelving. The leather spine is worn, cracked. The gilt decoration and titling are benign. The spine is efficient and…sure. The boards are steady, healthy. Marbled papertrims and end papers (smart). The contents are pleasing. The very early and later pages have some light smudges of foxing, some light wear. However, by far, the pages are very clean, very clear, fresh-faced, barely showing their, neat, smart. Please note that due to the weight of the book, should it need be posted to the outside of South Africa, extra postal charges may be required. fk. Covers soiled, hinges of spine rubbed, some rust marks in the gutters and a few loose pages where staples have rusted in the first few pages and the last few pages of the gathering. Nota: from the 1880s, wire staples were used as a substitute to stitching: a habit which luckily did not last long. Very good. Complete. Gothic German text. 25.7 x 18.5.
