Contains a frontispiece portrait of Dick and several illustrations, both plates and vignettes, by Paul Rajon. Written by the author and reformer Samuel Smiles, who was catapulted into fame after the publication of his work 'Self-Help'. Robert Dick was a notable botanist, whose comprehensive herbarium of mosses, ferns and flower, is currently held in the museum of Thurso. In a half-morocco binding.
