This thought-provoking book delves into the complex relationship between literature and society, exploring the decline and subsequent revival of literary thought in the early 20th century. The author argues that the ebb and flow of literary output reflects the broader intellectual climate of the time, highlighting the importance of collective thinking and discussion for societal progress. Through the exploration of key literary figures and movements, the book delves into the ways in which literature shapes and is shaped by the prevailing zeitgeist, ultimately examining the profound impact of these dynamics on the course of human history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

The second edition of this work, originally published in 1915.A work of literary satire by H. G.
