Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Paperback Edition. Vintage Paperback Popular Library #125. Solid First Paperback Printing. Only original 1944 publication date listed but actually 1948(Holroyd). Square and tight with moderate page toning. Some edge wear and rubbing to hinges. A couple of short, faint surface creases. Still fresh and bright with no chipping or tears. Though not marked in any way, this came directly from the library of H. Lawrence Hoffman who illustrated the front cover. His son, David Hoffman, the noted documentary filmmaker, has signed a statement with information about his father, the artist, and attesting that the book was from his library. A copy of this is included. A pretty collectable copy of an uncommon book in any condition and at a great price.

Chips to head of spine, corners, front edge and center of rear upper edge. Corners bumped. Small tear to front margin which translates through the first few pages. Thumb smudge to page 19, text is otherwise clean and tanned to brown. A Mercury Mystery #180 "The La Cucaracha Hotel was generally full of stiff by nine o'clock at night, but Sue was the first to discover a corpse there. As it happened, it was spirits that started the whole thing. The first was the spirit of the occasion, for Sue and Ty Grant had just been married and all the guests were celebrating the wedding night with the second spirit, alcohol. There was the spirit of fun too, when rancher Cedric Jones and his cowboy friends put alarm clocks in the bed. And there was the spirit of the dead which appeared when Sue jumped into bed and mistook a very dead corpse for her slightly drunk husband. It was in a helpful spriit, however, that Ty and his friends decided to hide the body and find the murderer themselves. Hilariously funny mystery.
