Warner, who states that "Mervyn, more than any other director who worked for Warner Bros., has helped shape the history of the studio." (Of course, he did make quite a few pictures for other studios, notably MGM, where he worked almost exclusively from 1938 to 1953, and produced some little pictures like THE WIZARD OF OZ.).

Claude Fields, Jr. (son of W.C. Fields) and Raymond Rohauer, the Film Curator and Program Director, The Gallery of Modern Art in New York. William Claude Dukenfield (1880 - 1946), better known as W.C. Fields began his entertainment career in vaudeville as a silent juggler. Later he began to incorporate comedy into his act as was a featured star in the Ziegfeld Follies before his film and radio work which would make him an international star. Some of his best known work in film includes ItÕs a Gift(1934), Man on the Flying Trapeze (1935), The Bank Dick (1940), and Never Give a Sucker an Even Break (1941). Very good copy with some overall handling and creasing in printed wrappers.
