Umschlag leicht lichtverändert, innen gut und sauber - Heinrich von Kleist 21.11.1811 21.22.1961 - Auszug: Kleists Lustspiel Amphitryon, von dem wir sprechen wollen, hat Thomas Mann vor Jahrzehnten das herrlichste Theaterspielwerk der Welt genannt. Die gelehrte Forschung hat von dieser souverä…nen Auslegung wenig Notiz genommen. Nicht daß es ihr bezüglich dieses Theaterspielwerkes selbst an Bewunderung gefehlt hätte - im Gegenteil! Aber sie ist ernst, sehr ernst, und bisweilen dem Tragischen mit einer Neigung zugetan, die wohl nachdenklich stimmen könnte. Sie spricht mit Vorliebe von dem »Tragiker« Heinrich von Kleist, obschon es doch nur zwei Tragödien unter den vollendeten Dramen gibt. Mit dem Lustspiel Amphitryon verfährt sie gern auf ihre Weise - bei aller Hochschätzung vor der Leistung des Dichters oder gerade deshalb. Die Gattungsbezeichnung sucht sie Kleist oft auszureden, und nicht Amphitryon, nicht der hinters Licht Geführte, steht dann im Mittelpunkt, sondern Alkmene, das Drama der Alkmene - ihre Tragödie. Daß sich Tragisches mit Komischem in diesem Lustspiel vermischt habe, ist unser eigenstes Thema. Aber wir beabsichtigen nicht, die Alkmene dieses Dramas in eine »tragische Existenz« und das Spiel selbst in eine Tragödie zu verwandeln. Oder müßten wir nicht eigentlich sagen: zu erhöhen? Dem Lustspiel in bevorzugter Weise gilt unser Interesse. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 711.
