Sam Rockett (1919-89) was a famous figure in Folkestone in the 1950s, assistant manager and instructor at the open air pool and training supervisor for the Daily Mail and Butlin's international Channel races, 1950-51 and 1954. Slight gutter cracking. Binding is firm. Foxing and tanning more noticeable towards start and end of book and on text block edges. Endpapers have strips of tanning caused by jacket. A few dog-eared corners. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Boards a little rubbed and marked overall. Slight sunning to edges of spine. Mildly dusty joints. Book has a heavy forward lean. Gilt is bright. Unclipped jacket (priced 16s net) has some edgewear with chips, tears and creasing. Jacket is a touch rubbed and marked overall. Jacket moderately foxed overall, heaviest to front panel.
