Aggiungi al carrelloNo Binding. Condizione: Good. Pewter tankard with handle, height @125mm, diameter at base @104mm and at lip @82mm. Made in Sheffield by Wentworth, with their touchmarks to the lip and base ("ARW" = Arthur Richard Wentworth; "92" = minimum percentage of tin; "ABPC" = Association of British Pewter Craftsmen; 2 sheaves of arrows = part of Sheffield's coat of arms). Good or better with small dent and tarnishing. The engraved lettering with illustration to the side reads: "Saudi Aramco / 'Al Hawtah' / 'Berri 3' / 'Berri 4' / Hessle 1991". This commemorates the build of 3 tugs for Saudi Aramco at the Richard Dunston (Hessle) Ltd Shipyard in East Yorkshire in 1991. All three were trialled on the River Humber, then delivered to Dammam in September 1991. The illustration is of "Al Hawtah", an especially powerful tractor tug used to guide supertankers in and out of terminals such as Ras Tanura, and serve as a primary emergency response vessel capable of salvage, fire fighting and oil spillage work. The smaller sister ships "Berri 3" and "Berri 4" were made to the same specification to serve as heavy weather mooring tugs carrying heavy lines to offshore buoys, securing tankers in place, and ferrying crews around the Berri offshore platforms in the Gulf to the north of Jubail.

Aggiungi al carrelloA scarce map showing the locations of oil wells, pipelines, and refineries in the region surrounding Aramco's headquarters. We have traced only one copy (US Library of Congress). The discovery of commercial quantities of oil in Dhahran at the Dammam Number 7 well in 1938 kick-started the industry in Saudi Arabia. The city is now one of the major centres of oil production in the region and has been the centre of Aramco's (now Saudi Aramco's) activities since the early 1950s. This map shows the Abqaiq-Dhahran, Dhahran-Ras Tanura, and Saudi Arabia-Bahrain pipelines. It also maps the road network, airport, powerlines, and drainage systems. Six different types of wells are marked, from observational to structural, suspended, and abandoned examples. It was drawn by Aramco employee Kei Inouye and first released in December 1975, with revisions published on 20 September 1976. The 1:1,000,000 scale key shows the connections between Dhahran and other major cities, such as Dammam, Safwa, and al-Khobar. Large map (1,366 x 845 mm), key on recto. Folds toned, edges a little nicked, one small hole neatly repaired: a very good copy.

Aggiungi al carrelloColour-printed map, 590 x 855 mm. Bilingual road map of the Arabian Peninsula for Aramco employees. Focused on Saudi Arabia, the map shows the main roads, as well as surfaced roads, trails, roads under constructions and even proposed roads. A list titled "hints for survival" mentions extremely logical traffic rules such as "come to a complete stop at stop signs and observe stop-and-go signals" and "observe speed laws in the community where you live as well as on the highway". Placing common traffic rules under the header "hints for survival" makes one fear the worst for Saudi Arabian traffic in this period. The Arabic side of the map contains the same "hints" as well as a list of road signs in Arabic and English. - In very good condition.
