Hardcover. Condizione: very good. Würzburg, anno 1658, Saur Abraham, Blattmaß: 19x14 cm., Saur: Abraham S., geboren zu Frankenberg in Hessen am 12. Februar 1545. Vermuthlich durch den ihm nahestehenden Professor Hermann Lersner angeregt, studirte er zuerst 1565 in Wittenberg, dann in Marburg die Rechte. 1567 erhielt er die Magis…terwürde und wurde im Mai 1568 zu Speier, wo er zu seiner Ausbildung am Kammergerichte arbeitete, kaiserlicher Notar. Nachdem er vom October 1568 bis Frühling 1570 Lehrer bei den Kindern des Grafen Wolrad von Waldeck gewesen, fand er am 14. März 1575 eine Stelle als Advocat und Procurator am hessischen Samthofgerichte zu Marburg, die er bis zu seinem Tode (am 18. Juli 1593 zu Marburg) beibehielt. Von seiner Frau Elisabeth, einer Tochter des Marburger Professors Konr. Matthäus, hatte er fünf Söhne und eine Tochter. S. war ein fruchtbaret und geschickter Schriftsteller. Die zahlreichen juristischen Handbücher, die er für den eigenen Gebrauch zusammenstellte, auch wol zum Unterricht Anderer verwerthete und auf Wunsch veröffentlichte, fanden gute Aufnahme; einzelne (wie das Straffbüchlein) wurden bei seinen Lebzeiten sieben Mal, und auch später noch, gedruckt. Es waren theils Ueberarbeitungen fremder Schriften, theils eigene Zusammenstellungen aus der Praxis heraus. Die Arbeit ging ihm offenbar leicht von Statten, und diese Vielschreiberei, die sich auf den verschiedensten Gebieten versuchte, erweckte ihm zahlreiche Gegner, über die er sich in den Vorreden seiner Werke beklagt. Seine ersten lateinischen Gedichte erschienen 1565 und erlebten vier Auflagen. 1591 veröffentlichte er eine deutsche Bearbeitung des Hecastusdramas" von G. Macropedius (s. A. D. B. XX, 19), 1592 eine lateinische Komödie Agapetus". Beide sind verloren. (Die Tragoedia Conflagratio Sodomae" ist nicht von ihm, wie bei Goedeke II , S. 142, steht, sondern von Andreas Saur, wie auch bei Goedeke l. c., S. 389, richtig angegeben wird.) Sein Theatrum Urbium" fand bis zum Jahre 1658 sechs z. T. vermehrte Auflagen, auch eine [420] Rhetorica" und ein Epistelbüchlein" wurden mehrfach aufgelegt. Für Hessen bietet sein Diarium historicum" werthvolle biographische Nachrichten. Strieder, Hess. Es zeichnet sich vor allem durch die überaus exakten, teils statistischen, oft auch historischen Beschreibungen der deutschen und europäischen Städte aus, die mit den herrlichen Holzschnitten als Veduten, teils aus der Vogelschau dargestellt sind. Diese Ansichten sind meist überaus genau, so dass man die ganze Morphologie des Geländes, die Topographie der Städte und deren Architektur und Monumente erkennen kann. Mit Ansichten von Aachen, Augsburg, Basel, Braunschweig, Bremen, Breslau, Dresden, Erfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Freiburg, Friedberg, usw. Vorliegend in einem schönen altkolorierten Exemplar.

Splendidi fregi silografici di grandi dimensioni a numerose pagine, fitomorfi: garofani, bacche, ghiande, fragole. Zoomorfi: uccelli, chiocciole, cavallette. L'anno di impressione ? riportato al frontespizio delle varie parti Testo in gotico tedesco con parti in latino. Registro alla fine del "Nachfolgendene Reichstatten", con dati tipografici ripetuti (data 1588) e grande impresa tipografica allegorica: donna formosa ed ignuda, alata, su ruota, con piuma in mano.
