Early ms. ink collection number on left pastedown and paper label with early library number to head, later larger paper slip glued beneath with title, bookseller's label towards guts at foot (E. & C. Brown, Booksellers, 13, Bishop's Road, Paddington, W. 20, Sheldon St. (Adjoining)). Bound in contemporary South German blind-stamped alum-tawed skin over wooden boards, sides divided into rectangular compartments and decorated with stamps of rosettes, animals, lilies and an arrow through a heart, the whole within a roll border of a larger arrow through heart stamp, spine decorated in compartments, divided by five raised bands covering double sewing supports, with a profusion of the same stamps, metal cornerpieces and original catch and clasps of copper alloy. Later chevron headband linings of blue, red and white cotton threads. (A few minor signs of wear). A monumental volume in very good condition despite a few missing leaves. Not in Adams or BMC. None of the tools identified in Kyriss.

Magnifico titolo a stampa rossa e nera racchiuso da bordura ornamentale a motivo architettonico figurato, nella lunetta in alto il Padre Eterno nella veste di Giudice circondato da Santi, più in basso grande vignetta raffigurante Bartolo in…cattedra con discepoli; gran numero d'iniziali ornate su fondo criblé, testo su due colonne in carattere semigotico, talvolta interamente racchiuso nel commento. Pregevole edizione di questa prima parte della celebre opera giuridica del grande giurista marchigiano ( nato nel 1313 o 1314 e morto, ancor giovane, tra il 1355 ed il 1359), il cui insegnamento ebbe influsso determinante nello studio del diritto tra i contemporanei e soprattuto nei secoli successivi. Esemplare in buono stato (salvo lieve macchia sui primi fogli ed altra nel margine interno dell'ultima parte). Book.

Frontespizio stampato in rosso e nero. Testo steso su due colonne. Consunzioni ai margini dei piatti, specialmente agli angoli; alcune leggere gore marginali di antica umidità; poche pagine un poco brunite. Comunque un esemplare molto buono, soprattutto l'interno la cui carta è molto ben conservata.

November Promotion zum Dr. iuris utriusque 1338: nach praktischer Tätigkeit als Assessor der Podestà in Todi, in Cagli bei Perugia und Pisa, 1339: in Pisa ab dem Wintersemester Rechtslehrer und Kollege von Rainerius 1342: Wechsel nach Perugia, wo er bis zu seinem Tode lehrte 1355: Bartolus begegnet Kaiser Karl IV. in Pisa, der ihm die Erlaubnis zu einem Geschlechtswappen erteilt und zu seinem Ratgeber ernennt 1357: Bartolus stirbt am 13. Juli in Perugia im 44. Lebensjahr, nachdem er ein Jahr zuvor ein Testament errichtet hatte. Er hinterliess Ehefrau Pellina, zwei Söhne, und vier Töchter. Con bellissima marca tipografica giuntina (giglio con cornice architettonica sovrastato dalla Giustizia alata e bendata) ripetuta anche in f…ine e capilettera (alcuni anche istoriati) incisi in xilografia. Frontespizio stampato in rosso e nero. Testo steso su due colonne. Consunzioni ai margini dei piatti, specialmente agli angoli; alcune leggere gore marginali di antica umidità; poche pagine un poco brunite. Comunque un esemplare molto buono, soprattutto l'interno la cui carta è molto ben conservata.

Con bellissime marche tipografiche giuntine (giglio con cornice architettonica sovrastato dalla Giustizia alata e bendata)…, 34 illustrazioni nel testo della prima opera e capilettera (alcuni istoriati, alcuni a fondo nero) incisi in xilografia. Frontespizi stampati in rosso e nero. Testo steso su due colonne. Consunzioni ai margini dei piatti; una mancanza alla pergamena che ricopre il piatto anteriore; una gora di umidità marginale e non pesante coinvolge le carte da 7 a 22 della prima opera; altre leggerissime gore di antica umidità; poche pagine un poco brunite. Comunque un esemplare molto buono, soprattutto l'interno la cui carta è molto ben conservata.
