Aggiungi al carrelloLeather. Condizione: Very Good. Ferdinand Schultz-Wettel (illustratore). First edition. A wonderful Swedish translation of the memoirs of Giacomo Casanova, the famous Italian adventurer, featuring various tipped-in colour plates. First edition of this Swedish translation.Complete two volume set, bound in a half-morocco binding on marbled boards by Panorstedt & Soners.Illustrated with tipped-in colour frontispieces to each of the volumes, as well as numerous illustrated colour plates by Ferdinand Schultz-Wettel (1872-1957).This is a lovely Swedish translation of Casanova's 'Histoire de ma vie', or, 'History of My Life'. This work was both a memoir and autobiography, in which the author describes his life through to 1774, puttin ga 'happy face on his days of loneliness'. Casanova wrote his memoirs in French instead of Italian as he believed that French was more widely known as a language, and officially completed his first draft of the work in 1792.Contents include Mina lidanden i pensionen i Padua' (My Sufferings in Retirement at Padua), 'Lilla Lucia' (Little Lucia), and 'Fortretliga arvsangelagenheter och fangenskapen i S:t Andrea (Sad Inheritance Matters and the Imprisonment in St Andrea'.Giacomo Casanova (1725-1798) was a Venetian adventurer and author. Casanove was so famous for his complicated and elaborate affairs with women that his name is now synonymous with extensive romantic exploits. With an introduction by Franz Blei (1871-1942), an Austrian essayist, playwright, and translator. Blei was particularly known for being both a friend and collaborator to Franz Kafka.Collated, complete. Bound in a contemporary half-morocco binding on marbled boards. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the extremities and the spine, particularly head of Vol I, with fading to the spine and the top edge of boards.Age-toning to paste downs and endpapers with bookbinder's label to front paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout, with light age-toning to the margins of text. Very Good. book.
