Este libro es la primera sÃntesis histórica de los treinta años de medicamentos esenciales, un libro que reclama la vigencia del concepto e identifica los obstáculos actuales en el camino hacia el acceso a los medicamentos esenciales como un derecho humano efectivo. Fernando Antezana doctor en BioquÃmica y Ciencias Farmacéuticas, ha ocupado los más altos cargos en la Organización Mundial de la Salud, entre otros, el de Director General Adjunto de la organización. Tras su ejercicio como Ministro de Salud de la República de Bolivia, ejerció de presidente del Consejo Ejecutivo de la OMS. Xavier Seuba es profesor de Derecho Internacional Público y Derecho Internacional Económico en la Universitat Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona, especializado en la regulación internacional de los productos farmacéuticos. Ha trabajado para la OMS en cuestiones relacionadas con los medicamentos, y también para la Oficina del Alto Comisionado de Naciones Unidas de los Derechos Humanos.
