Théodore Deck le remercie pour lenvoi de deux perdreaux. Il tiendra sa promesse : « Dans quelques jours dici vous recevrez égalementmon petit envoi que vous pourrez faire figurer honorablement dans votre collection ». L'artiste et collectionneur Edmond Aubourg racheta une ancienne "hostellerie" qu'il renomma l'Auberge des Vieux Plats car il la décora avec de vielles faïences. Il était de tradition que les artistes puissent laisser en paiement pour leur séjour une oeuvre d'art. C'est ainsi que l'auberge fut entièrement décorée.
