Sobald die Staatsgrenzen wirtschaftlich verschwinden, wird die Rechtsverschiedenheit vom Wirtschaftsleben als ein Hindernis empfunden. Die wirtschaftliche Integration bedeutet an sich jedoch noch keinen Beitrag zur Beseitigung der großen politischen und insbesondere technischen Schwierigkeiten, die mit der Rechtsvereinheitlichung verbunden sind. Diese Schwierigkeiten können nur dort überwunden werden, wo ein Verwaltungsapparat zur Verfügung steht, und wo außerdem der Gedanke der Rechtsvereinheitlichung von irgendeinem politischen Organ unterstützt wird. Die ganz ungewöhnlichen Erfolge der nordischen Zusammenarbeit gehen zurück auf die seit neunzig Jahren bestehenden Nordischen Juristentage (1872). Die spätere Errichtung der ständigen Delegationen (1946) und schließlich des Nordischen Rates (1953) hat die Struktur noch gefestigt. Im Benelux hat die Errichtung des Interparlamentarischen Rates dazu geführt, daß seitens der Regierungen hinfort den Arbeiten der Vereinheitlichungskommission eine größere Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet werden mußte. Durch den am 25. März 1957 in Rom unterzeichneten Vertrag wurde die Europäische Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft gegründet mit ihren Organen: Rat, Kommission, Wirtschafts- und Sozialausschuß, Versammlung und Gerichtshof. Wie weit wird diese differenzierte und quasi-staatliche Struktur dem Ziel der Rechts-vereinheitlichung dienstbar gemacht? Zunächst kommen zahlreiche verwaltungsrechtliche Vorschriften, wie z. B. das Zollwesen, das Fremdenrecht und die indirekten Steuern in Betracht. Sie werden daher dem Einfluß des Vertrags unterliegen. Wie tief dieser Einfluß sich geltend macht und wie er zum Ausdruck kommt, ist hierbei nicht einheitlich geregelt. Auch die Terminologie ist nicht einheitlich, weil einmal von Angleichung (Art. 27), einmal von Koordinierung (Art. 37) und noch einmal von Harmonisierung (Art. 99) die Rede ist. Folio, 325 x 235 mm., bound in publisher's light brown printed wrappers in a new red cloth folding box. Brussels: Editions Selection, 1921. This is one of 25 copies on Holland hors commerce and lettered O of a total 132 copies printed. Inscribed by the author to the secretary of the Comedie Française, Jean Valmy-Baisse. A collection of 7 poems by the polymath Paul-Gustave Van Hecke (1887-1967), a Belgian poet and art patron, who was associated with the surrealists, especially Magritte, Ernst and Man Ray. The poems are accompanied by 7 striking hand-coloured pochoir plates by Géo Navez (1890-1975), a central figure in the artistic avant-garde in 1920s Belgium. The printed wrappers have an unusual design using advertisements. Edges of the covers a little worn as true in most copies, overall a near fine copy.

Geen tot zeer gering papierverlies en zorgvuldig in kristalpapier gekaft. Komplete reeks van dit invloedrijke tijdschrift dat kan beschouwd worden als de opvolger van ''Van Nu en Straks''. Het verzette zich tegen de het Vlaamse streekliteratuur en streefde naar een cosmopolitische esthetiek. Veel aandacht werd besteed aan de vormgeving met bijv. bijdragen van kunstenaars zoals George Minne en James Ensor.
