Die einzelnen Beiträge beziehen sich auf diverse Aspekte der gesellschaftlichen und individuellen Mehrsprachigkeit, des Sprachkontakts und der Sprachenpolitik, wobei sie Sprachgebrauch in unterschiedlichsten kommunikativen Domänen untersuchen. Eingegangen wird zudem auch auf fremdsprachendidaktische Fragen, die schulische, universitäre und medizinisch-berufliche Bereiche umfassen. Unter den hierzu durchgeführten Untersuchungen gibt es auch solche, die kontrastiv bzw. konfrontativ angelegt sind, wodurch die gestellten Forschungsprobleme in einer weiteren Perspektive beleuchtet werden.
