Figlio di Gregor Jollos, che è stato un giornalista e economista russo implicato nei moti rivoluzionari del 1905, compie gli studi a Mosca e in Germania, allo scoppio della Prima guerra mondiale si trova in Svizzera, dove si stabilisce e risiede fino alla morte. È autore di numerosi drammi, tra i quali "Der Kronig, Das Vergessen Gottes" (rappresentato a Mannheim nel 1929), "Die Vergeltung" (rappresentato a Vienna nel 1937); di questi viene pubblicato solo "Esau und Jacob" (Berlino 1919) per l'interesse della critica e l'apprezzamento di Stefan Zweig. Due volumi, pubblicati postumi, testimoniano il suo lavoro di osservatore politico e di critico letterario: il primo, pubblicato nel 1953, è una scelta di articoli letterari e storico-politici intitolata "Russische Gestalten und Ereignisse" (Zurigo 1953); il secondo, tradotto in italiano dalla moglie, è una raccolta appunto di saggi dal titolo "Arte tedesca fra le due guerre" (Milano 1955).
