Ryszard Wasko (1948 in Nysa Woiwodschaft Opole) ist ein polnischer Multimediakünstler, Fotograf, Filmemacher, Maler und Kurator. Er lehrte 1983 bis 1990 unter anderem an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, der Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main, der Universität der Künste Berlin und der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen. Das International Artists' Museum (IAM) in Lodz wurde 1989, mit Emmett Williams als Präsident, von Ryszard Wasko gegründet. Curated by Ryszard (Richard) Wasko, this was the largest modern art exhibition in Poland at that time, featuring artists such as: Sol Lewitt, Taka Iimura, Tomasz Konart, Antoni Mikolajczyk, Dóra Maurer, Pawel Kwiek, Kazuo Katase, Maurizio Nannucci, Fred Sandback, Les Levine, Richard Nonas, Paul Sharits, Peter Downsbrough, David Rabinowitch, Jozef Robakowski, Ed Ruscha, Carl Andre, among many others. Artists book initiated by a group of Polish artists, following the influential exhibition 'Construction in Process' which was curated by Ryszard Wasko in Lodz in 1981. Signed and inscribed by Antoni Mikolajczyk with a dedication to Paul Panhuysen, a Dutch composer and artist who founded Het Apollohuis in Eindhoven in the 1980s, an arts space focusing in sound and free improvisation. Wasko's page is handwritten, hand drawn in pencil and signed. According to the artist Peter Lowe, who was in Lodz for the setup of the exhibition, after the final day of the installation, once the international artists had left Poland, the staff of the factory canteen were arrested by police, who accused them of being spies as they were seen with foreigners.
