Provenienz: Sammlung Heinrich Striebel, Frankfurt am Main (Lugt 1367a). Weber genoß eine weitreichende akademische Kunstausbildung, ausgehend von einem Studi-um der Landschaftsmalerei bei H. Rosenkranz und anschließend in Darmstadt bei J.H. Schil-bach. Mit letzteren unternahm er eine längere Studienreise durch die Schweiz. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Frankfurt am Main besuchte er 1836-1838 das Städelsche Kunstinstitut und anschließend bis 1839 die Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie bei J.W. Schirmer.
