Prima edizione
First edition and first printing. Hardcover. 321 pages. Large monograph on this underrated Pop Artist. Features text by Stealingworth which is actually Wesselmann's alter ego. Includes numerous color and black and white illustrations, list of previous exhibitions, list of public collections, and an index. A very good copy in cloth boards with some slight bumping to the top edge and a few pages were not bound in and with color plate inset into the front cover. No dust jacket. Despite the flaws a solid copy of what remains one of the best books on Wesselmann. Please note that this is a heavy and oversized book and will require extra shipping.

Aggiungi al carrelloFirst edition. Publisher's plain white boards in pictorial dustwrapper. Illustrated with plates in colour and black and white throughout. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, the boards bright and fresh. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owners' marks. Complete with the fine original dustwrapper that remains without fading, loss or tears. A consideration of the work of American pop artist Tom Wesselmann (1931-2004). This self-portrait (Slim Stealingworth is a pseudonym) traces the artist's origins and development from fledgling cartoonist to Abstract Expressionist to creator of the Great American Nudes and other paintings celebrated for their highly charged colors and deadpan eroticism. This Taschen issue, comprising the sheets of the US issue bound in plain boards but with a thick gloss pictorial dustwrapper was presumably for European distribution. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
