Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good, slight scuff Marks. First Edition. Dust jacket: Much has already been written on Olive Schreiner. In no less than five biographies widely divergent interpretations and evaluations of her personality and her writing have been given. This volume is not intended as a definite study of her life or her work. In Until the Heart Changes people who knew her intimately, people whose lives she had touched or influenced, people who love her memory and honour her work, give their personal impressions of this woman whose vivid, passionate personality and creative genius had such a strong impact on her own generation. And not only on her own generation, for the memory of what she was, the inspiration of the basic values by which she lived and wrote - tolerance, justice, devotion to personal liberty, the search for truth - lingers and is as stirring today as it was during her lifetime. Until the Heart Changes can indeed be seen as a book of homage, a garland for Olive Schreiner. "It shows," as William Plomer says in his introduction, "that she was unforgettable, influential, and unlike anybody else; and that her originality, energy, largeness of outlock, foresight and goodness of heart are unobscured by the passing of time." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 158 pages, b/w photographs ------------------ Orders over $100.00 are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
