68 pp. Deutsch.

Without technology, people would still be living within their geographical confines of their societies. Examples of technological advancements that have made life easier include things like the Internet, phones, tablets, TV, PS and movie and video games. However, these are just the positive attributes of technology; there are also a number of negative effects that it has brought upon the society in general. This research paper seeks to discuss these negative impacts of technology upon the society and the general way of living. Arguably, some of these technological advancements have increased stress levels and isolation within the society. As it appears, technology has had a rational impact on the meaning of 'social'. It has touched many different aspects of life including education, communication, transport, war, and even fashion. Many in the society are worried about the rapid transformation in human attention. 24 pp. Englisch.

In order to fully understand the implications of this statement aswell as the logic behind this argument, it is important to have a general understanding of therole of space in our world today, as well as to have a comprehensive concept of space securityand the general threats facing it. Therefore, before providing the arguments to support myhypothesis, I will provide the reader with a comprehensive summary of the current spacesituation and relevant concepts tied to it. I then will focus on the specific threat of spaceweaponization and an outer space arms race. A discussion concerning a comprehensivedefinition of what constitutes a space weapon will be provided as will a prediction of thedevastating consequences of such weapon deployment. This will be followed by an overview of preventative measures that have been taken against the deployment of space weapons, aswell as the effectiveness of these measures. After this basic summary of the current outerspace situation has been established, I will analyze the likelihood of space weaponsdeployment in the future, based on recent international trends as well as the national spacepolicies of influential states. I will subsequently support my conclusion that spaceweaponization and a space arms race are inevitable by providing theoretical arguments thatprove this point. In order to fully understand the devastating effects space weaponization would have on ourworld, it is important to be conscientious of the vast and diverse roles outer space use plays intoday's contemporary society. 24 pp. Englisch.

The Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations estimates around 800 million people worldwide to be food insecure and they are not retained in the boundary of the developing world. Measuring food insecurity at the individual/household level rather than national level differs from the more traditional approach of identifying food insecurity as the inadequacy of aggregated supply of and accessibility to food (Busch and Lacy 1984). Recently, however dissatisfaction with many of the available measures of food security has led to the use of direct measure of food insecurity (Maxwell 1995; Maxwell et al. 1999; Wolfe and Frongillo 2001) such as household food consumption data (based on recall). Household food consumption has been defined as the total amount of food available for consumption in the household, generally excluding the food taken outside unless prepared at home (Klaver, Knuiman et al. 1982). It serves as an indicator of food security as well as a distal proxy indicator for poverty. Information about food consumption and dietary diversity is important from the programmatic point of view as it has the potentiality to be used as effectively to detect change, modify, or improve programs activities (Jalal et al. 2009). 28 pp. Englisch.

The time examined in this essay is the year 1776. During the eighteenth century the Dukedom of Parma depended both economically and politically on the two main Bourbon powers: France and Spain. France and Spain were also the two main allies of the American revolutionaries. Parma was diplomatically represented by Spain, while its only independent diplomatic representation of the small state resided in France. Nonetheless, it would not, at first consideration, seem obvious to find such a wide and detailed amount of information concerning the American Revolution, or about the parliamentary debates taking place in London, in the dukedom's only official means of communication, the Gazzetta di Parma. Indeed, in this period, Parma was arguably the most politically conservative state on the Italian peninsula, one unlikely to be so interested in the talk of rights and freedom being spread by the American Revolution. The primary sources used for this research are mostly unpublished. They are the dispatches from the ambassador of Parma at Versailles to the Parmesan secretary of state, contained in Parma's State Archive (PSA), and editions of the Gazetta di Parma from 1776, contained in the municipal archive. 24 pp. Englisch.

A constant feature is the debate as to whether or not the Arab or Islamic World is compatible with the idea of modernity, and understanding this idea from a Western perspective, in relation to a set of abstract values such as liberty or democracy. The aim of this paper is mainly to attempt an analysis of the concept of modernity through the use of the French press in Morocco, concretely three newspapers: the 'independents' Maroc-Hebdo, and ' L economiste' and the 'officialist' Le Matin du Sahara et du Magheb,The press is not just an interesting media due to the value it holds in providing information on world events, but also due to the fact that it reflects the opinions and points of view of the person, or the group behind the writing; therefore providing an interesting mirror of the society. The press has been chosen as a source in order to examine the Islamic or Arab vision of modernity. The discussion about the treatment of the concept 'Modernity' in the Moroccan press is addressed through the evaluation of several questions:The paper will mainly emphasize the concept of modernity; first talking about the general considerations of the concept in an abstract sense, then focusing on the main topics of discussion, and at last evaluating the paper of tradition in the modernizing initiative, distinguishing two different discourses. This is a work basically descriptive, due to the characteristic of the sources ( primary) which are not opportune for the interpretation. The work will intercalate the text with many quotes, referring to the discussed topic. This work examines the existence of different perspectives on the same topic, through the treatment of the news and the language used. The paper will analyze different news between the years 2011 and 2012. In a first part, the economic context is presented, from an historical perspective. It underlines that the country's economy relies excessively on hydrocarbons, which contributes to large economic distortions and has negative impacts on the creation of stable jobs in productive sectors. The second part analyses the labor supply and demand, and the intermediation role of ANEM, the National Employment Agency. Considering labor markets, there is a lack of reliable statistics, the scope and the quality of data on labor supply and demand must definitely be improved. In particular, there is a strong need for a better assessment of the importance of the informal sector, including so-called work at home. Available statistics underline the vulnerability of young generations and women. The role of ANEM is important; however, its performances could still be improved. The third part overviews the roles and impacts of development programs and key-institutions involved in job creation. Here also, improvements are needed. In addition, there is a need for better data and adequate methodology to assess the performance of these institutions. 32 pp. Englisch.

Literature for Jameson is a particular form of narrative, not its supposed content. One consequence of this approach is that it allows the critic to analyse literature with an illuminating emphasis on the formal. He sees literature as being very precisely tied in with historical changes in the structures of capitalism out of which 'realist' and 'modernist' writing gets produced. The role of history is an ultimate shaping force on literature. Narrative is the key meditational category in contemporary society, with the consequence that the novel has become the most important mode of literature. An insistence on looking at the form (style, genre, etc.) of a literary work in addition to, or even in preference to, its apparent content (story, character, and so on). The particular form that Jameson is most interested in is narrative. 28 pp. Englisch.

Some scholars claim that the timely release of the film in the first year of Barack Obama's presidency renders The Princess and the Frog an appropriate marker of America's so-called 'new age' of racial harmony: While a black president resides in the White House, a black princess lives in the Disney castle. When the characters sing 'Dreams Do Come True in New Orleans' (Newman), the city - though accurately and authentically depicted - is presented as a dreamspace with racial harmony, contrary to the real New Orleans at that time. In this context, the peculiar absence of racial tension throughout the film might be an approach to overwrite the problematic position the city occupies in the minds of many Americans with a romantic fairy tale by Disney. Therefore it can be said that The Princess and the Frog serves as a tourist brochure for the city which makes viewers nostalgically look back.To prove my theses of how blackness is formed in The Princess and the Frog, I will have a closer look at the setting of the Disney-movie since New Orleans, which is often considered as a place of 'racial difference', plays an important role in the film's construction of blackness. At first I will give a brief overview of the city's colonial history before explaining the concept of Creolization and link this idea to New Orleans. In the following part of my paper, I will analyze the representation of blackness in Walt Disney's film The Princess and the Frog by on the one hand referring to the setting and its depiction and on the other hand taking into account Tiana, the first African American princess, and her illustration in the film. Due to limitations of space and since the portrayals of New Orleans and Tiana provide lots of interesting material for an analysis, the display of voodoo and the study of other characters in the film is omitted in this paper. Finally, in the conclusion I sum up my findings and elaborate on an issue, or respectively, answer a question which was often posed and discussed about after the release of the film: Does Disney neglect stereotypes in The Princess and the Frog or promote them 28 pp. Englisch.

The analysis of attitudes and perceptions of the volunteer as well as potential benefits the experience may have on their future life in general and career especially has been carried out by means of online survey. Further similarities and differences between 'general' volunteers and research volunteers have been established and analyzed, leading to the insight that altruism combined with the desire to travel and experience a different culture are central motivators to both groups and similar perceived benefits are attributed to volunteering. This study concludes that research volunteering can be especially beneficial to all parties involved if design and realization of the project are given great consideration and suggests further research into the complex task to develop mutually beneficial volunteering projects despite ongoing commodification of this area of sustainable tourism. 64 pp. Englisch.

Immediately, the new ownership group set out to make impactful company-wide changes. The first change was the elimination of the firm's 'King' mascot in 2011, which was seen as edgy and targeted towards young men in their teens and twenties. The new phase, which began earlier this year, consists of a drastic change in overall brand strategy to reposition BK as a broad and appealing restaurant in the QSR industry. To attract a wider audience, such as women and health-conscious customers, BK has added a significant amount of menu items including smoothies, coffee drinks, and salads. Furthermore, it has set out to remodel around 1,500 restaurants. In place of the previous mascot, BK has enlisted A-list celebrities (i.e., David Beckham and Selma Hayek) to advertise its products. Another strategy that they plan to implement is to sell almost all of its 1,300 corporate stores to franchise stores in an effort to protect itself from commodity-cost swings and fixed costs. With significant competition from both current as well as fast-growing QSRs (i.e., Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Panera Bread, and Chipotle Mexican Grill), BK's recent moves have been perceived as imitating the leader, McDonald's, rather than differentiating the company. While it remains to be seen whether or not the strategy is enough to grow the business, a potential concern is whether 3G Capital Management is looking for long-term growth or settling for marginal growth in the short-term to fund their exit from the company by going back to a public entity. The current strategy conveys that BK is in 'catch-up' mode instead of trying to distinguish itself as a premier QSR. Considering both internal and external factors, the firm needs to win back and increase its customer base as the way to grow its business. To do this, some recommendations for BK in the short-term are to introduce a happy hour that includes an accommodating menu of new products, offer nutritious kid's meals that are part of a healthy, balanced diet, and launch an online ordering system for customers to pre-order meals for pick-up. In the longer-term, we suggest BK buy out the highest performing franchises to gain additional streams of revenue, implement an incentive program to reward the best franchise stores, and start a high density delivery service. 104 pp. Englisch.

[.] 20 pp. Deutsch.

20 pp. Deutsch.
