Neuware -This book represtents a work which evaluates the treatment effects and implementation of Parent Management Training ¿ the Oregon model (PMTO¿) to treat children¿s behavior problems in Iceland. The intervention is an Empirically Supported Treatment (EST), and originally developed by Gerald P…atterson and his colleagues in the United States. Its main goal is to improve parents¿ child-rearing methods by breaking coercive patterns between parents and children. The book is built on four papers. The first two papers explored the influences of the implementation and the second two papers evaluated the effects of PMTO in a randomized controlled trial (RCT) in community settings nationwide in Iceland. The main findings of the book are that PMTO led to greater reductions in child adjustment problems relative to the comparison group, which indicates that PMTO is an effective method to treat children¿s behavior problems in Iceland and supply evidence for the method¿s successful implementation in community settings in the country. Findings also indicate a further need to adapt observational measures to Icelandic cultures.

Listeners were exposed to English speech recorded by several Gujarati speakers and then post-tested on speech from either a Kannada or a Russian speaker. Exposure to a Kannada speaker was designed to test how categorical dialect representation could help with the adaptation/generalization process. The Russian speaker shared a salient feature with the Gujarati speakers, which tested whether listeners could adapt to features across unrelated accents. Post-test reaction times and accuracy scores were measured and compared between the Gujarati listeners and a control group. The Gujarati-trained listeners were significantly more accurate in both post-tests, and more accurate in the Kannada post-test than in the Russian post-test. The findings in this study suggest that listeners start adapting to feature alternations and can generalize this to other speakers of similar language backgrounds or to speakers that have common L2 features. 72 pp. Englisch.

Current study on feedback sessions post formative assessment was undertaken to establish t…he extent to which it can make significant contribution in improving learning outcomes. An Experimental, Randomized, Controlled study with sample population being 1st MBBS 2011 students , were randomized into cases (n= 37) and matched controls ( n= 38) . The cases underwent feedback sessions after FA. Difference in scores between cases and controls in Summative (SA) was statistically significant (p 0.002). Scores in FA and SA was statistically non-significant (p = 0.30) within controls (n=37) and statistically significant (p= 0.006) within cases ( n= 38). Qualitative analysis was done for comparing the utility and efficacy of written comments on answer sheets compared to feedback sessions. Study concludes that feedback sessions post - FA, irrespective of success, may determine greater involvement of students in learning process and improve learning outcome. 76 pp. Englisch.

Incandescent, and fluorescent lighting conditions were examined in the study, along with blue and red colouring. The semi-structured, action research methodology employed a quantitative analysis of the data with a small (n= 20) sampling of students over a nine-week period. The participants in the study were English 10 students from a small northern British Columbia high school. The literature examined the context of public building philosophy and policy of school and classroom design and highlights the impact of environmental elements on students and learning. The data indicated that alterations to colour produced greater change in student responses than changes to lighting alone, and that red colouring, when combined with incandescent, fluorescent and day light, produced highest achievement. 84 pp. Englisch.

Competition authorities have recognised this and, as a result, have moved away from imposing an outright prohibition against RPM. In particular, one jurisdiction that has taken a significant step in that direction is Singapore, where RPM (absent significant market power) benefits from an outright exclusion from the prohibition against anti-competitive agreements under the Competition Act. We will now review the arguments raised for and against the imposition of RPM, before assessing the justifications for the outright exclusion that RPM enjoys in Singapore. Employing Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimations, it was found that CBI affects inflation only when both the developed and the developing countries are considered together, but not when the sub-samples are considered independently. Results are interpreted with a degree of caution because a measure of CBI is an indistinct demonstration. In particular, the extent of an economy s openness has been found to be especially significant in influencing inflation (at both aggregate and disaggregate levels). GDP, historical inflationary trend, lack of political stability and high debt-GDP ratio have been additionally identified as significant factors influencing inflation (for the whole sample only and not when the developed and developing countries are considered in a mutually exclusive manner). 60 pp. Englisch.
