In terms of the items related to refocusing, reappraisal, acceptance and planning, all answers were categorized at high level for all the questions. Also, regarding putting into perspective, low responses were related to the statement of all could have been much worse in low level. Moreover, the highest score is related to positive reappraisal. The introduction of a minimum wage generally tends to improve domestic worker wages, although an increa…sing number of domestic workers in the labour market (excess supply) tends to maintain their vulnerability as this tends to reduce their bargaining power (Societal perception, low agency and self-esteem, especially for live-ins). This paper identifies the key actors in domestic work, and suggests a model for formalizing it that focuses on maid centres (domestic worker agencies) because they are able to register, organize, bargain and represent the domestic workers as most of them ensure the domestic worker employer complies to the minimum wage (although the emphasis is not it being a floor/starting point in most cases).In addition, education and literacy seem to have less explanatory value in relation to the dynamics of bargaining, but awareness. It also seems that minimum wage legislation benefits urban Domestic Workers more, as I had hypothesized. The effect of different PLD growth parameters in forming the nanorods a…nd structure has been studied. Laser energy and frequency have an effect on the size and the height of the nanorods; the oxygen pressure changed the density of the nanorods. The ZnO nanorods were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The obtained XRD patterns showed ZnO wurtzite structure nanorods grown along the C-axis. The book presents my views on the current crisis in… healthcare and the ramifications of the Affordable Care Act, colloquially referred to as Obamacare, for the future of the healthcare industry, especially, in the United States. I have tried to touch on just about every aspect of medical practice especially as I see changes coming as a result of the Affordable Care Act and financial stresses. The discussions are terse but they are frank and present realities of the dilemmas facing the healthcare industry in the United States. This book was not written just for physicians and persons involved with the healthcare industry. Lay persons in the United States are very concerned with the future of healthcare and this book may help them to appreciate the stresses faced by physicians and hospitals in caring for patients. Moreover, the Affordable Care Act will be the subject of repeated discussions in the Congress, in newscasts and in newspapers. We compared adults who died of AIDS using HAART and underwent autopsy with 109 AIDS patients w…ithout HAART therapy. The HAART group presented lighter pancreas abnormalities than no HAART users. In the HAART group, histology shows: reduction of zymogen granules in the acinar cells (ZG), lower dysplasia-like and higher pancreatic acinar atrophy. The exocrine pancreas in treated patients was distinguished by the high level of atrophy, sharp reduction of zymogen granules and high level of apoptosis, reflecting degeneration and lower level of proteincaloric malnutrition. The islets of Langerhans in HAART group were increased in number and volume and with high level of nuclear dysplasia. The antiviral therapy and a longer survival resulted in a higher atrophy and reduction of enzymes, increasing the apoptosis and generated important changes in the pancreatic islets, probably resulting in clinical/laboratory repercussion. We found no evidence of pancreatic histological lesions secondary to antiretroviral therapy. 76 pp. Englisch.

The type II CRISPR/Cas system has been adapted for genome editing and transcription…al modulation purposes across a variety of organisms. Here, we employed this system for targeted transcriptional regulation in planta by developing chimeric dCas9-based activators and repressors. By fusing activator and repressor domains to the C-terminus of dCas9, respectively, we generated transcriptional activators: dCas9.EDLL and dCas9.TAD, as well as transcriptional repressor: dCas9.SRDX. Our data demonstrate that the dCas9.EDLL and dCas9.TAD activators, guided by gRNAs complementary to promoter elements, induce strong transcriptional activation on episomal targets in plant cells. Moreover, our data suggest that the dCas9.SRDX repressor and the dCas9.EDLL and dCas9.TAD activators are capable of markedly repressing or activating, respectively, the transcription of an endogenous genomic target. Our data indicate that the CRISPR/dCas9:TFs DNA targeting system can be used in plants as a functional genomic tool and for biotechnological applications. 88 pp. Englisch.

The liquid inside is then isolated from contact with other solids or liquids and has some fascinating physical properties, which will be described later on. The main potential use for these liquid marbles appears to be for the formation of novel, hollow granules, which may have desirable properties in specific pharmaceutical applications (e.g. respiratory devices). They have also been shown to be a highly effectively means of water recovery and potentially as micro-transporters and micro-reactors. However many studies in the literature are essentially proof-of-concept approaches for applications and a systematic study of the dynamics of the marble formation and the first interactions of the liquid droplet with the powder is lacking. From 2005 to 2013 the Litta's Connections Project (which started at London's National Theatre) gave secondary-school students the chance of working on and staging a play written specifically for them. The experience at the Teatro Litta is the case study of this work: drawing on the works by Susan Bassnett, André Lefevere, Franco Aixelà and David Johnston, the manipulation of the source text Lunch in Venice is analysed. A crucial part of this work is the account of the experience during the rehearsals of Pranzo a Venezia where, thanks to the young actors' suggestions, the performability of the play was ensured. This influence reflects the moral development of adolescents as well as their attitudes towards ci…tizenship in our society. We used three questionnaires during the research: The Moral Dilemma Questionnaire is based on the frequency of individual answers to the dilemmas given, we formulated statements for the questionnaires and implemented the Likert Scale for each of them. The Citizen + Change Questionnaire focuses on the attitudes of adolescents towards the behavior of a citizen and his/her virtues and vices. The Parents' Behavior Questionnaire consists of a number of items based on the results of factor analysis. Our research sample consisted of 337 boys and 302 girls (N = 639) aged 12-17. The independent variables were age, sex, place of residence, number of siblings and family structure. The results show that adolescents analyze themselves based on the best and worst practices of their parents. This critical analyses shapes their values and attitudes in their behavior and their positions in society, community, citizenship, and moral development. 84 pp. Englisch.
