Soft cover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. 1 volume (unpaged) : chiefly colour illustrations ; 27 cm + 1 booklet (27 cm). The Marble Index is an artist book by Marit Følstad, based on her work from 2011 to 2016. The title of the publication is borrowed from an album by Warhol superstar and pop icon Nico. Inste…ad of the chronological presentation found in conventional art publications such as catalogues and monographs, The Marble Index aims to invoke the sublimating, dark and evocative experience that characterizes Følstad s exhibitions. The book has been bound using a double facing, Japanese technique which minimizes transparency and allows it to lay open despite a flexible cover. An unbroken stream of Følstad s work including video, photography and neon sculpture gives the book an indexical relation to the timelines commonly found in video or sound editing software. This formal design choice is the result of a close collaboration between Følstad and designer Ian Brown, and can be related to Følstad s time-based practice across a variety of artistic media. Time is central to Følstad s polished and minimalist aesthetic, linking the various media that Følstad makes use of in her practice. Neon sculptures flicker between opposing statements DANGEROUS becomes ANGER when certain letters are dimmed. In another work, DOMINATE becomes DONATE. Similarly to the flow of images in video, the neon gas within fluorescent tubes is constantly moving. Følstad s use of slow motion to document transitory motifs such as smoke and falling water contribute towards a totalizing experience, affecting the audience s experience of time. Similarly to Følstad s exhibitions, the book includes melancholic undertones and subcultural references. Contrast heavy lighting lends association with baroque painting. Photographs of cut locks of hair have a close affinity with Følstad s neon drawings and clouds of smoke. A shaved (female) head can be considered a sub-cultural marker, a form of protest against conformist ideals shared by the music (such as Joy Division or David Bowie in his Berlin period) that Følstad borrows her titles from. The Marble Index is a visually rich presentation of Følstad s complex and atmospheric practice, covering a range of transient media and formats.

In "Juvenilia", Ole John…Aandal does not manipulate the photographs, but takes them directly from websites. All kinds of images, from the provocative to the sexy and the careless. The artist finds a new aesthetic understanding that the total democratization of photography through mobile phones and webcams enables.

Hardcover. Condizione: New. 120 pages. Norwegian & English. In the performance trilogy Riding Romance, choreographer Henriette Pedersen is based on three iconic works from Romantikken - and creates her own theatrical reactions to these. This second part of the series is a reaction to Caspar David Friedrich's picture Der Wanderer… über dem Nebelmeer. The production was developed during a stay at the studio program W17 at Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo together with Frido Evers, Kristine Karåla Øren, Elisabeth Breen Berger, Tilo Hahn et al. During three viewing periods, the studio was open to the public, including a small group of specially invited 'reactionaries'. As Pedersen and her team through their process have shredded and explored Friedrich and his painting, Kristin Berget, Diana Damian Martin and Julian Blaue were invited to come up with textual reactions to the stage. The texts are collected in the book, together with an introductory essay by editor Anette Therese Pettersen and photographic documentation by Sveinn Fannar Jóhannsson.

Hardcover. Condizione: New. Text in English and Norwegian. Notes: Exhibition catalog. On the occasion of an exhibition held at Oslo, Kunstnernes Hus, January 30 - March 29, 2015. Description: 190 pages : illustrations ; 22 cm. 'In the summer of 2014, it was 100 years since the shots were fired in Sarajevo. The atrocities of the…First World War, with millions of dead soldiers in the miles of trenches, are part of the experience and memory of modernity. The Norwegian artists experienced the war through the news, as most artists do today. Henrik Sørensen was particularly engaged, and resigned, to the Norwegian press' unvarnished coverage of the ravages of war. Economic, rather than human, aspects were emphasized. Art's relationship to war and society has not diminished since then. Instead, it has become more intrusive. We read about bombing, violence, terror, war and grief. About millions of people on the run and how thousands of boat refugees risk their lives for a second chance in Europe. In November 2014, more than 3,000 people died on their way across the Mediterranean to the Italian island of Lampedusa. How should we deal with the wars and suffering of our time? And do artists have a special obligation? Through new source material, with paintings, photographs and drawings that have never been shown before, the role that war and rebellion have played for the artist and for the development of modern art is highlighted. The works committee is concentrated in three periods; 1920 - 40, 1960 70 and 2000 - 2014.'.

Hardcover. Condizione: New. 1st Edition. 1 volume (unpaged) : illustrations (some colour) ; 31 cm. Essays in English, German and Norwegian. A Narrow Scene of Hypothetical Circumstances presents various strategies for deconstruction, dissolution and recycling of everyday objects. Sketches, photographs and notes are united in a st…eady flow of visual impressions where the interplay between daily life, public, art object and art context is observed. What is left is a tension between comic misfortune and tragic fate, with almost no sentimental or emotional elements. Both directly and subtly, new and alternative ways of looking at it open up, on the borderline between insult and credibility, in the middle between construction and collapse, with an elegant sense of the serious.

Hardcover. Condizione: New. 84 pages. Norwegian & english. HERE A PLACE can be read as a personal examination of place and belonging. Six different places where Katja Høst has lived have been the subject of a photographic investigation. The artist takes possession of each place and seeks to make it "his" by taking pictures of it…. The photographs thus represent the artist's attempts to understand, collect, categorize and relate to new places. Each of the different places has something of its own that the photographer seeks to grasp and express. Collectively, the photographs in the book become a picture of the fleetingness of being present. Imprints we make while visiting, are or are trying to be, part of a place. It survives us and becomes part of the landscape. "[] Thus they form a future archeology of abandoned objects and landscapes, light plastic furniture, newspapers, construction sites. The people in the pictures are already on their way out of the situations that define our culture, into the silence that is there when we are not there. " (from Janike Kampevold Larsen's text).

Hardcover. Condizione: New. 51 pages : 33 cm. Fathers give a close picture of the relationship between father and child. Throughout history, it is the mother who has had the exclusive right to be portrayed in the role of love and care for children. Fathers finds the man in the role of caregiver and the book tries to find the ess…ence of this relationship between a father and his children. From 2009 to 2013, Verena Winkelmann followed 73 fathers. This has resulted in almost 20,000 images. The book Fathers presents a selection of 21 photographs. Verena Winkelmann's portraits are not just an exploration of what the role of husband and father is in the 21st century. They also problematize the iconic man, and the role that is often given to him. Without wanting to give answers, the book raises questions about gender equality and male roles. The book has a newly written essay by Stephanie Bremerich: Up Close. Verena Winkelmann (b. 1973) lives and works in Oslo. She has been shown at a number of institutions at home and abroad. Fathers is her third book.

Hardcover. Condizione: New. 48 unnumbered pages. The series contained within Dvale (hibernation in Norwegian) was created during the lead-up to the opening of the Norwegian hospital Ahus in 2008. Ivar Kvaal has captured the building in a slumbering state, in the weeks and months before it was brought to life. The images in the b…ook encompass a fragile and fleeting stillness, in sharp contrast to the hectic everyday life of hospitals. In Dvale whitewashed, unornamented rooms are filled with building equipment, stacks of ceiling panels and loose cables. Medical machines stand untouched, still covered by plastic. The geometry of these temporarily misplaced parts serve to create breaks in otherwise linear compositions, inviting sculptural associations that tend towards abstraction. The absence of bodies is striking Kvaal s images emphasize the hospital as a technical construct: a mass of individual parts reliant on medical and scientific knowledge. The book can be placed within the tradition of documentary photography, but avoids dramatic or narrative devices. The hospital is presented as a scenography under development, a backdrop for future events. Dvale can be conceived of as a contemplative space, where the beauty in functional and technical environments can become apparent. Ivar Kvaal (b.1983) has garnered critical acclaim for his photography in Norway and elsewhere. Images from the Dvale series have been exhibited at numerous institutions and galleries, including The Aperture Foundation in New York, Musée de l Elysée in Switzerland and The Devos Art Museum in Michigan. The series is also featured in Thames and Hudson s anthology reGeneration2 -Tomorrow's Photographers Today.

Soft cover. Condizione: New. 223 pp. Ill. (Mainly col.). VERSIONS (.) is a book consisting of new works that treat and recycle the artist's previous works. Tandberg describes this himself as: "being in the middle of a loop. I work with older works, physically, grab things from the warehouse and recycle them for new works." The b…ook is at first glance an encounter with an artist's destruction of his own art. Tandberg's old works are shredded, painted over, the paint ball - books become sculptures, photographs, paintings and texts for pictures. But reading the destruction of the old through the new becomes meaningless. The new works are not an acknowledgment of the old ones being rejected, but rather a revelation of the existing as something new - an acknowledgment that perhaps everything is in repetition, that even versions have their version. . The book is both an overview of where Tandberg stands artistically today and an artist book with works made uniquely for the book. It also contains newly written texts by Karin Gundersen, Matias Faldbakken, Lars Bang-Larsen and Peter Amdam. Vibeke Tandberg is one of Norway's foremost visual artists. She has had a large number of gallery and institutional exhibitions at home and abroad. VERSIONS (.) is her fifth monograph / artist book and her first book at the art book publisher Teknisk Industri.

Photographic artist Hedevig Anker (b. 1969) is known for her poetic and abstracted portrayals of empty and deserted spaces in private homes and public museums. The images, situated on the borderline between painting and photography, are apparent meditations on experience…d architecture. Recurring like a leitmotif across Anker's entire career is a genuine interest in what analog photography can be, formally and in terms of materials.00The exhibition presents a broad range of Anker's photographic series. Particularly innovative is one showing analog "negative paintings" where photographic material possibilities are explored in the extreme.0Anker has also produced a new series of photographs from Sigrid Undset's authorial home, Bjerkebæk, especially for this exhibition.00Exhibition: Lillehammer Museum, Norway (29.10.2016 - 19.02.2017).

Things That Never Happened' is a photo book about collective memories of childhood pastimes during summer; moments filled with freedom and play. Preben Holst has photographed the children of friends, acquaintances and strangers? in…some instances repeatedly over several years? as they explore their local forests, free from adult interventions and expectations. The book encompasses six chapters, spanning a total of 88 photographs00'Things that Never Happened' avoids presenting a complete narrative. What is the story behind the forest hut? Or what is Julie contemplating, while she lays in the long summer grass? Certain images give the impression of moments that could be personal or formative, but their exact mythologies seem lost to the passage of time. Subject to fleeting associations that are not fully cognisant when seen from the rational vantage point of adulthood.

This extreme martial art lives on outside of the normative sport. On the one hand, martial arts are apparently violent and on the other hand thoroughly r…egulated and with distinct self-justice. In one of the most elaborate photo books of recent years, the artist Kjetil Kausland presents photographs from matches in Mixed Martial Arts. By getting involved in the environment and participating in the sport himself, Kjetil Kausland has been able to take pictures that few others have had access to.

Soft cover. Condizione: New. Condizione sovraccoperta: New. Instead… of the chronological presentation found in conventional art publications such as catalogues and monographs, The Marble Index aims to invoke the sublimating, dark and evocative experience that characterizes Følstad s exhibitions.
