A very good white leather binding. 16mo . [6pp.]/pp.iv./pp.110/[2pp.]/pp.vi./pp.122 . 5.0" x 3.0" x 0.75" . White calf, now soiled, with central gilt cross to each board. Spine with 4 raised bands, highlighted in gilt, plus crimson leather title label: "Altar & Pietas". All page edges gilt with intricate gauffered pattern. Inner gilt dentelles. Small pink bookplate to verso of the front board: A coronet above the name "Elizabeth" . Endpapers lightly soiled. Inked dedication to front free-endpaper: "Annie Beresword April 14th 1903. With best wishes from Lady de Tabley." Title in red & black. All pages within a red border. Separate title-page to "Pietas Quotidiana. 1844. " Clean English text throughout. ** "Elizabeth Jacson was the daughter of Captain Shallcross Jacson. She married, firstly, James Hugh Smith-Barry, son of John Smith-Barry and Eliza Mary Courtenay, on 16 September 1841. She married, secondly, George Fleming Warren, 2nd Baron de Tabley of Tabley House, son of John Fleming, Leicester, 1st Baron de Tabley of Tabley House and Georgina Maria Cottin, on 26 January 1871. She died on 14 March 1915. From 16 September 1841, her married name became Smith-Barry. From 26 January 1871, her married name became Warren. Children of Elizabeth Jacson and James Hugh Smith-Barry: Arthur Hugh Smith-Barry, 1st and last Baron Barrymore b. 17 Jan 1843, d. 22 Feb 1925 ; James Hugh Smith-Barry b. 11 Jan 1845, d. 30 Jul 1927 ; Geraldine Smith-Barry b. 1847, d. 21 Dec 1894; Maude Smith-Barry b. 1849 ." - See The Peerage .
