Incisione originale eseguita all`acquaforte su matrice di rame , sotto al parte figurata, indicazioni degli artisti e titolo. L`opera, di raffinata fattura e assai interessante dal punto di vista iconografico, rappresenta l`ingresso delle truppe della Repubblica Francese in Torino, avvenuto il 10 dicembre 1798; le armate a cavallo e a piedi sono disposte nel primo e nel secondo piano, mentre sullo sfondo si delinea la città, colta dal lato di Porta Susina, con la Cittadella a destra. La tavola è tratta da un disegno di Carle Vernet, membro di una importante famiglia di pittori francesi. La trasposizione dell`invenzione disegnativa su lastra spetta a J. Duplessis-Bertaux, un pittore, disegnatore e incisore transalpino che fu allievo di J. M. Wien e di J. Ph. Le Bas, e che insegnò alla Scuola Militare di Parigi. Come è indicato nella legenda sottostante l`immagine, l`incisione fu terminata da J. Bosq. La studiosa A. Peyrot segnala due stati dell`opera: il primo eseguito all`acquaforte pura, il secondo con ritocchi all`acquatinta. Esemplare in buone condizioni conservative.
