Aggiungi al carrelloFull-Leather. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. Second Edition. Second edition. Minor loss from corners, small paper remnant on spine head. 1719 Full-Leather. [xxiv], 765, [37] pp. Full calf, red morocco spine label, gilt titles, gilt tooled compartments, marbled endpapers. Latin text. A medical work by the Venetian physician an…d botanist whose descriptions of coffee and banana plants are the earliest written records in European literature. Prospero Alpinus oversaw the botanical garden at Padua, and wrote the first significant history of Egyptian medicine (see Garrison-Morton 6468). This work advocates the Methodic School of medicine of ancient Greece and Rome, which focused on treatment based on generalities of disease rather than history of individual patients.

Prospero Alpini (1553-1617), medico e botanico, ebbe l'occasione di viaggiare in Egitto quando divenne medico personale del console veneziano al Cairo, Giorgio Emo.DSB pp. 124-125In-4 ° bound in full vellum.1) pp. (36), 296, printer's mark wood-engraved on the title page, Durling 2950.Work on the medicinal properties of plants, divided into three books, which is part of the of pharmaceutical botany texts, in which plants, such as flowers and fruits, are examined from the point of view of nomenclature, the birth of the species and medical-pharmacological properties. Frontespizio in rosso e nero.
