Binding solid and secure. Volume II: Essentially the plates volume. Half-title, title, 7pp list of examples, 51 plates, many in colour with accompanying text page (or 2), 4pp marks and monograms text, 4 plates of marks. Foxing to end papers then scattered patches in places. Darkening to gutters. Binding and boards solid. The quality of the colour plates is exceptional. The preface in volume I is dated 1877 due to the work required to publish these seminal volumes. A complete first edition set in good to very good condition. More images on request. L'ouvrage ayant d'abord été publié en sept livraisons, les couverures reliées dans l'ouvrage sont à la date de 1877-78, mais les pages de titre à la date de 1880. Fabrique de Fizen, faience de Satsouma, fabrique d'Isi, fabrique de Kaga, fabrique de Kioto, fabrique d'Owari. Ouvrage imprimé sur papier à fort grammage, certaines planches réhaussées d'or. Exemplaire présentant plusieurs défauts: déchirure angulaire (sans manque) assez grossièrement restaurée à l'adhésif transparent sur les 6 premiers feuillets après la page de titre (cette dernière n'est pas touchée, les feuillets en question sont un peu froissée), la légende de la planche V a été reliée avec la légende de la planche III. Copy with some defects: angular tear (no loss) to the six first leaves following the title-page (title-page not reached, leaves concerned a bit creased), quite roughly repaired with tranparent tape; the caption leaf of plate V has been bound with caption of plate III. Ouvrage lourd et volumineux. Large and heavy book: extra-charge will be required for postage.
