This work was a seminal influence on the introduction of Chinoiserie and Islamic decorative art to French artists and craftsmen. In 1863 the authors Eugène Collinot and Adalbert de Beaumont founded their own faience factory in the Bois de Boulogne, specializing in wares inspired by Persian and Iznik pottery. The volume offered here is complete in itself. Eugène-Victor Collinot (d. 1882) was a French potter and designer. "Aucun autre peuple n'a su réunir dans une aussi admirable harmonie, pour le plaisir des yeux, tous les objets dont se compose le luxueux décor des plus riches appartement." Chemise légèrement défraîchie, des lacets rompus, petites déchirures sans manque en marge de plusieurs planches (loin des illustrations), planche 25 empoussièrée et défraîchie dans les marges.
