Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. 1st Edition. San Francisco: Grabhorn Press, 1957. First edition, 225 copies 'printed at the Press and completed the last day of April, MCMLVII' [by] Edwin & Robert Grabhorn, Jane & Mary Grabhorn, Sherwood Grover' (pp. xxix, 119, colophon). Folio (37 cm) in half red morocco and red decorated paper (dolphins) over boards, gilt titles; twenty-three illustrations, various sample pages, etc. Text with restrained decorative elements initial letters, titles and subtitles in red and gilt; untrimmed top and bottom edges. Contents include list of earlier titles, 1916- 1940, the bibliography 1940- 1956, miscellaneous printings, Christmas and New Year's greetings, indexes of titles, authors and types. The faux medieval typeface on exhibit here expresses Grabhorn's debt to the Arts & Crafts movement and to William Morris in particular; however attractive it is to the eye, it is less comfortable for the reader and at first takes some application to sort through (see the illustrations). At two places (pp. 66/ 67, for example) a tipped in sample pages show a bit of foxing in the margin, a rear endpaper is lightly foxed; so, a Near Fine copy of a lovely and not so common book.
