hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: includes dust-jacket. DETAILS: near fine dust-jacket, fresh attractive copy, fine condition black cloth with embossed spine titles, a very nice copy indeed. EVANS, WALKER. American photographs. With an essay by Lincoln Kirstein. New York: Museum of Modern, Distributed in the United States and Canada by ARTBOOK, 2012, Seventy-fifth anniversary edition., 208pp., . More than any other artist, Walker Evans invented the images of an essential America that we have long accepted as fact. American Photographs, first published by The Museum of Modern Art in 1938, is the purest and most complete expression of his cool, unblinking vision. The eighty-seven photographs reproduced on its pages are as relevant and essential as ever, with Lincoln Kirstein's essay as their eloquent foil. American Photographs has been a key touch-stone for photographers and those who seek to understand the lyric potential of the medium, but it has often been out of print. This Seventy-Fifth-Anniversary Edition, with duotone plates complementing the elegant restraint of the original typography and design, makes Evans's landmark book available again. For the first time, digital technologies aid in emulating the precise cropping and finely tuned balance of the 1938 reproductions, capturing as never before the look and feel of the first edition. Completamente illustrato con fotografie in bianco e nero e a colori (servizi da "The Architectural Record", "Hound & Horn", "Fortune", "Vogue", "Flair", "The Cambridge Review", "Architectural Forum", etc.) Bibliografia cronologica . Cm 33x25. pp. 224. . Perfetto (Mint). . Prima edizione (First Edition). . Condizione: As New. Prima edizione (First Edition). Volume pubblicato in occasione della mostra omonima presso il Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 3 febbraio - 25 maggio 2009. Testo di Jeff L. Rosenheim. Illustrazioni a colori. Indice della cartoline riprodotte e bibliografia . Cm 26,5x21. pp. 407. . Perfetto (Mint). . Prima edizione (First Edition). . Photograph mounted on board. Black and white photograph (illustratore). #10 of 10. 1931 Walker Evans photograph, sometimes known as "Bed and Stove, Truro, Massachusetts," printed by Evans in 1941 for the exhibition "American Photographs at $10" at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. SIGNED twice on the mount by Evans. The exhibition was aimed at promoting photography as an art form to the general American public, and helping photographers to sell their work as such. Nine American photographers agreed to participate, submitting a single photograph each to the show. They included Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, Helen Levitt, among the others. The Museum asked each of the nine to print 10 duplicates of their featured photograph, and these would be available for sale to the public for $10 each. The present print is number 10 of this series of 10 printed by Evans for this exhibition. The number "41.1902.10" is pencilled at bottom right corner on back side of the think mounting board (see description of lot 60, Sotheby's Photographs Sale, October 17, 2006 for more information and discussion of this numbering scheme). Photograph has some silvering, and the mount has some old dampstains.
