Dort hörte er Vorträge von Johann Gottlieb Fichte, die ihn sehr begeisterten. Die entscheidenden Impulse für seinen weiteren Lebensweg erhielt er jedoch von Christian Gotthilf Salzmann, welcher ihn einlud, an der Erziehungsanstalt in Schnepfenthal bei Gotha an einem Schul- und Erziehungsmodell mitzuarbeiten. Extra-illustrated with loose plates. Front gutter cracked at head. Normal toning in margins; off-setting on tissue guards. Binding intact. Jacob Glatz, a Protestant clergyman of Hungary, was born in 1776 at Poprad, studied theology at the university of Jena, became in 1797 professor at Schnepfenthal, in 1804 professor at the Protestant school of Vienna, in 1805 minister of the Lutheran congregation in the same city, resigned in 1826, and died in 1831 at Pressburg, He wrote numerous juvenile books, which appeared in many editions; also several pedagogical works. He edited the Annalen der ostreich. Literatur, the Evangelisch-christliche Gesangbuch, and an agenda (Kirchenagende) which was introduced into the Protestant congregations of Austria.
