Shot in Sicily presents Michael Roberts' complex view of Sicily - its people, traditions, and landscape - filtered through his photographic work for and beyond the fashion world. Spanning 20 years, the book traces Roberts' changing vision of a sensual and ambiguous environment. Referencing Baron Wilhelm von Gloeden's photography and evoking the films of Visconti and Bolognini, Roberts' sense of Sicily moves beyond strict aesthetic categories. His camera captures the beauty of youth, crumbling temples, traditional Easter parades, and the theater of daily life to recreate the allure of Sicily, even for those who have not yet been there. Visions and Decision, their second collaborative book, combines Lagerfeld's black-and-white photographs of Claudia Schiffer, Brad Kroenig and Sebastien Jondeau from a 1993 Dom P rignon Oenoth que advertising campaign with a story by Harlech. Her tale charts the sensual fantasies of a young bachelor, Ghyslain, and Malvina, his bride-to-be; he is charming and ruthless, she is beautiful and demure. "This is a story of a young, handsome, old-money couple," explains Lagerfeld. "Everything is perfect, they're just a little bored." With Dom P rignon as the catalyst, Ghyslain fantasizes about transforming his prim fianc e into a cast of seductive characters. Harlech's darkly humorous sensibility, which informs the Chanel aesthetic, is pitch perfect in this story of decadent ennui and passive seduction. Modeled on a traditional fairy-tale book with a title plaque embossed in silver, a black cloth bookmark and silver printing throughout, Visions and a Decision is perhaps not without a playful moral. Suppressing our desires is a dangerous thing; liberating them could be the beginning of a delectable existence. Hardback.

Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. Karl Lagerfeld and Amanda Harlech; Visions and a Decision; Steidl, Gottingen, Germany, 2007. First edition. This photo story features photographs of two "beautiful people" Claudia Schiffer and Brad Kroenig. Karl Otto Lagerfeld (1933 2019) was a German creative director, fashion designer, artist, photographer, and caricaturist. He was known as the creative director of the French fashion house Chanel, a position held from 1983 until his death, and was also creative director of the Italian fur and leather goods fashion house Fendi, and of his own eponymous fashion label. He collaborated on a variety of fashion and art-related projects. Lagerfeld was recognized for his signature white hair, black sunglasses, fingerless gloves, and high, starched, detachable collars. He was at the pinnacle of Haute Couture. Amanda Jane Ormsby-Gore, Baroness Harlech (née Grieve; May 1958) is a British creative consultant and writer with a long association with the couturiers John Galliano and Karl Lagerfeld. She was named to the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1997. Claudia Maria Schiffer ( born1970) is a German model and actress based in the United Kingdom. She rose to fame in the 1990s as one of the world's most successful models, attaining supermodel status. In her early career, she was compared to Brigitte Bardot. She has appeared on more than 1,000 magazine covers and holds the record for the model with the most magazine covers, listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2002, Forbes estimated her net worth to be around US$55 million. Brad Kroenig (born 23 April 1979), is an American fashion model. Kroenig started his modelling career in 2002 with a long-standing collaboration with fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. He has graced numerous magazine covers including VMAN, Vogue, Numéro Homme and Allure. Kroenig has appeared in print campaigns for designers including Chanel, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Abercrombie & Fitch, Roberto Cavalli, DKNY, Gap and Adidas, and on the runway for Chanel and Michael Kors. This is a sumptuous volume by and about beautiful people. This thin, folio book measuring 334mm X 245mm, is in fine condition. I have been in the book business for a long time, and I have used the acronym "aeg" for all edges gilt, but this is the first book I have had that is "aes" for all edges silver! The cloth binding, black and grey glistens. The quality of this Steidl volume is absolutely first class just like the cast involved. The dust jacket is in near-fine condition. It is slightly scuffed and has a silvery finish to match the book. This is a very scarce, spectacular, high-end fashion production, as would be expected from those involved in its creation.

Aggiungi al carrelloRilegato. Condizione: nuovo. Condizione sovraccoperta: nuovo. Karl Lagerfeld (illustratore). prima edizione. Palazzo is a sensual and luxuriant fable. Combining a short story by Amanda Harlech and a series of black-and-white photographs illustrating the story by Karl Lagerfeld, the book explores a glamorous yet equivocal romance. The narrative depicts Principessa Allegra and her American fiancé, who at first seem to be a beautiful and enviable couple. Yet as events unfold, we see that this relationship which initially seemed flawless and sparkling, is in fact complex and shaded with reluctance. Palazzo is a contemporary drama infused with a sense of a theatrical past. Indeed the Palazzo Taverna in Rome is not only the setting for the story, but a vessel containing the complex history of the building itself, on which Lagerfeld elaborates in an epilogue in the book. While depicting a degree of decadence which many can only dream of, Palazzo also explores the disquieting emotional states present in many human relationships - expectation, compromise and regret. The allure of Palazzo is thus underpinned by familiar emotions. This is seductive fiction into which we can read our own experiences. Condition: New, sealed.
