It presents 'many of the cases that caused a sensation in Australia's early days told in the same language as that in which the original news reached the old pioneers of the Australian colonies or the people in the English homeland'. It also reprints most of the early songs on transportation to the colonies and some of Thomas Bewick's woodcuts.
