An original antique engraving, printed in 1864; shows the view of Petersburg and its suburbs, together with a short report on the scene, which explains that the panorama is in 2 halves, intended to be joined into one length measuring 40 inches by 6 inches. Although the positions of the contending armies are not shown, they can be made out with the help of the report.
