Aggiungi al carrelloSoftcover/Paperback. Condizione: Very Good. Dóra Maurer. 13 Traces. Zürich, Switzerland: Innen, 2019. Staple-bound softcover. 28pages. New. 13 Traces documents the curves and folds of a bed sheet like minimalist works of linear abstraction. Like the crevasses and peaks of a bed of sand sculpted by the wind, Traces is the evidenc…e of something passed, or someone an abstracted echo of intimacy shared. Dóra Maurer is a highly-acclaimed multidisciplinary and conceptual artist most well known for avant garde geometric and abstract works of the '70s. Of her photographs, it is said that "many of her works break down simple actions so the viewer can really view the piece as movement, not a photograph of movement.".

Soft cover. Condizione: As New. 1st Edition. Softcover. Measures 3.25 x 4.75 in. Objectified Outline, a leporello by Dóra Maurer, one of Hungary's most influential artists, features eight silver prints depicting chalk-painted outlines on a rotating woman's body. This leporello explores the abstract representation of femininity a…nd the perception of the female body. It emphasizes Maurer's unique perspective on these themes, capturing the fluidity and transformation of the figure through the dynamic movement of the body. The work references her early conceptual piece from 1981, also titled Objectified Outline, which similarly delves into the perception of the female body and its abstract form, presenting it as a subject of both artistic and social inquiry.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. (Text dt., engl.) 72 pp. Deutsch, Englisch.

Condizione: New. 20x29 cm. Calculations and Coincidences brings together three pioneers of algorithmic art; Vera Molnár, Dóra Maurer and Gizella Rákóczy through their works from the Hungarian National Bank Collection. The exhibition focuses primarily on the profound influence of Molnar, who was unquestionably among the most sign…ificant names in computer art, while tracing how the artistic explorations of Maurer and Rákóczy have expanded the boundaries of abstraction through the integration of algorithms and mathematics. Vera Molnár began working with computers as early as 1968 and utilized them as a generative tool to create paintings and graphic art, which broadened the frontiers of both science and art. Algorithmic randomness plays a crucial role in her work; order and disorder, structure, and freedom provide important notions in understanding her artistic practice. In Dóra Maurer's works there is a strong tendency to systematize; since the early 1970s, Maurer has been exploring the forms and tools of mathematics - which create pure, exact constructions - and of music, especially serial music. Maurer's work can be characterized by counting and transforming disordered sets into ordered ones. Rákóczy's consistent, systematic painting, structure-oriented and serial attitude made her a leading figure in international geometric art. From 1976 onwards, she investigated the behavior and serial possibilities of four-arm spirals using combinatorics. Starting from 1998, the tempera paintings based on the numerical laws of four-arm spirals were replaced by watercolor drawings, in which she began to layer the tonal shades of transparent paint using the formula of the Fibonacci series. This exhibition not only showcases the individual contributions of each artist but also emphasizes the interconnectedness of their artistic journeys. Accompanying the events taking place within the scope of the events taking place as part of the 2024 Hungarian-Turkish Cultural Year, the exhibition offers an opportunity to witness how Molnár, Maurer and Rákóczy have collectively shaped the landscape of algorithmic art. A complete set of this historic samizdat art magazine, published from 1983 to 1985 by Galántai/Artpool. Texts mainly in Hungarian with some English summaries…. Design, layout, and production by György Galántai. Contributors include: György Galántai and Júlia Klaniczay (Eds.), Francesca Alinovi, Imre Bak, Bela Bartok, Miklos Beladi, Akos Birkas, Julien Blaine, William Burroughs, Monty Cantsin, Henri Chopin, Miklos Erdely, Wolfgang Ernst, Eva Forgacs, Tibor Hajas, Istvan Haraszty, Jozef Jakovits, Joan Jonas, Beke Laszlo, Kassak Theatre, Dora Maurer, Erdely Miklos, Tobit Papp, Gyula Pauer, Geza Perneczky, Mark Perry, Miklos Szentkuthy, Janos Szirtes, Annamaria Szoke, Adam Tabor, Min Tanaka, Gabor Toth, Ben Vautier, Janos Veto and others. A list of contributions can be seen at www.artpool.hu/Al/al01.html."AL tries to establish a little known art-from in Hungary - bookwork - and to explore its possibilities while looking for solutions only possible in workshop activities" - György Galántai statement on back cover of issue 2. In fact, this is definitely a Samizdat magazine but had to be declared as a bookwork as Júlia Klaniczay has written to us "We declared our Artpool Letter to be a bookwork (a graphic work). This way we by-passed the need to ask for a permission for publishing (which we would never get)."The first 9 issues have various interventions including rubber stamps, stickers, inserts, folded poster, plastic envelope inserts with printed cards etc. Very unusually, we have the complete set of envelopes for the first 9 issues (A5 format) which are each uniquely hand-stamped with three numbers. When you correspond this with the information on the booklets, one understands the numbering system. The first number on the envelope is the issue number. The second number is the the print run for that issue (there appears to be 5 print runs of 50 copies each). The final number is the individual number within that print run. The envelopes are in poor condition with tears and wear, but it is still important to have them to work out the unusual numbering system. All copies of the magazine have a slightly different but corresponding numbering system handwritten and signed by Galántai either on the back cover on inside back cover where the print run of 50 copies is indicated by roman numerals. 300 - 500 copies of each issue were printed. The complex numbering system was due to restrictions by the authorities on publications. As Júlia Klaniczay explains, artists could produce books u to an edition of 50 copies without applying for permission from the authorities. In the case of this magazine, "whenever a series of 50 was sold, we printed another 50." On page 69 of AL 5, there is a pencil-ticked book reference for publications relating to Galántai's Balatonboglari Chapel exhibition project in the early 1970s. Further to this a previous owner has added their own more expansive list of related publications to this important collective art project (loose sheet, biro and pencil on both sides, over 25 publications listed by hand).Together with double-sided broadsheet, describing the AL Letters published by Artpool at the same time as AL 4 was published, dated March 1984. Issues 1-9 measure 210x145 mm. Issues 10-11 measure 293x210 mm.
