Fine artist's portrait/portrait d'artiste, also Reception Piece/Morceau de Réception for Desrochers' admission to the Académie de Peinture et de Sculpture in Paris. Étienne Jahandier Desrochers was admitted to the Paris Académie in 1723 with this engraved portrait of the Royal painter François Verdier (Paris 1651-Paris 1730), after a painting of Jean Ranc (Montpellier 1674-Madrid 1735). Desrochers is especially known as a good portraitist. - Sharp impression on heavy paper. Thread margins. Paper very lightly browned.[(5848)].
