L'entête mentionne sa position de membre du gouvernement provisoire (barrée) et d'administrateur national de l'ancienne Liste Civile. Alexis Vavin, quoique membre du gouvernement provisoire, n'est pas républicain. Il passa de l'opposition libérale avant la révolution de 1848 à la droite monarchiste après celle-ci. [304-2].

Im unteren Rand befindet sich eine zweite Widmung - von der Hand Wolfensbergers: Wolfensberger à son ami Conr. Zeller". Horace Vernet, von 1829-1835 Direktor der Académie de France, pflegte freundschaftlichen Umgang mit dem Schweizer Landschaftsmaler Johann Jakob Wolfensberger (1797-1850), der sich wiederholt in Rom und Italien aufhielt. Das vorliegende Blatt ist während des römischen Aufenthaltes von 1832-35 entstanden. Conrad Zeller, ebenfalls ein Schweizer Maler (1807-1856), war mit Vernet und mit Wolfensberger befreundet, darüber hinaus Vernets Schüler und er hielt sich ebenfalls 1832 in Rom auf.
