First printing in very good condition. Gilt edges to all leaves. The only obvious flaw is that there is a chip to the spine of Volume I and chip to bottom edge of Volume 2. Names of former owner on label pasted to front pastedowns. Binding firm. Two volumes: 76 + 90 pp. Volume 1 has 34 steel-engraved plates and Volume II has 41 steel engraved plates plus index. Both are in very good condition with firm binding and no separation. All plates has protective tissue guards and light to no foxing mainly to margins of plates. A wealth of engravings still in bright condition and with learned commentary. Images upon request.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No date (mid 19th century). Half bound in dark leather with gilt titles and decoration to spine, and marbled boards. 225 x 279 x 56mm. A strange and somewhat inexplicable volume, containing various items, apparently incomplete, bound together as one. The bulk of the volume is the 'People's Gallery of Engravings', with numerous b/w engravings plus corresponding text pages. These appear to be taken from Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 of the works edited by the Rev. G. N. Wright, though there is no full title-page or contents table. Some pages are from the 'Gallery of Scripture Engravings', though again there is no contents table and the work is undoubtedly incomplete. An incongruous scientific journal from 1846 forms the concluding part of the volume, including index and fold-out diagrams. Leather edges and marbled boards very lightly worn, but cover generally well-preserved; internal contents slightly discoloured and with a little foxing (very minor for the most part, but heavier on a couple of plates); binding secure throughout. This offering is a vintage copy of The Rhine, Italy - Greece in a Series of Drawings from Nature by Colonel Cockburn; Major Irton; Messrs. Bartlett, Leitch, and Wolfensberger with Historical and Legendary Descriptions by the Rev. G. N. Wright . The book was published by Fisher, Son & Co. in 1841 and appears to be a First Edition . . . I'm not even sure whether things like that mattered back then. The book is in very good + condition (Particularly for having been published nearly 200 years ago and has no dust jacket. The book is 8 7/8" by 11" and has 80-some pages with NONE of the dozens of beautifully done black-and-white illustrations (each protected by a page of "onion-skin" paper) counted in that page count. I'd say that it might have 150 pages total. It has leather boards with gilded decorations for a binding. What a great book for the Rhine historian . . . or any artist who appreciates beautifully done black-and-white illustrations of 200 years ago. Thank you!
