Colour plate as frontispiece; monochrome plates and illustrations in the text; illustrated title page. Publisher's book catalogue at rear. Boards rubbed with fairly heavy edgewear; corners bumped; spine slightly cocked. Prize certificate on front pastedown (dated 1904). Endpapers toned. Light foxing and soiling to some pages. Gutters starting to crack in a couple of places.

The book is bound in rubbed but sound pictorial cloth with a cloth spine. The pastedown has an ow ner's inscription. There is some light foxing throughout, one of the colour plates is partially detached.
