Erste Ausgabe dieser Übertragung. Hayn-Gotendorf IX, 22. In 1200 nummerierten Exemplaren erschienen, hier eines von 1100 arabisch numerierten (Handstempel) in Halbpergament. In der Werkstatt von Jakob Hegner, Hellerau in der seltenen Fleischmann-Antiqua von 1732 gedruckt. Aristainetos, der vermutlich im 5. Jahrhundert lebte, war ein spätantiker griechischer Schriftsteller von dem nicht einmal der Name gesichert überliefert ist und von dessen Werk nur die hier vorliegende Sammlung von 50 erotischen Briefe von Ehefrauen und Hetären erhalten sind, die die unterschiedlichen Spielarten erotischer Eroberung behandeln. Nach der einzig erhaltenen Handschrift, jetzt in Wien aufbewahrt, die sich ehedems in der Handschriftensammlung des ungarischen Universalgelehrten und Bibliophilen Johannes Sambucus (eig. Jánios Zsámboky) befand, der 1566 in Antwerpen auch einen ersten Druck veranstaltete. Sambucus war als Arzt in Wien tätig und starb dort. Seine Sammlung bildete den Grundstock der Handschriftensammlung der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek (Daten aus der Einleitung Lichts und aus wikipedia). (2. Exemplar wie oben, jedoch anderer Einband. Ohprgt. mit schlichtem Rückentitel in Gold und Papierbezug aus einfarbigem braunen Marmorpapier und schwarzer statt cremefarbener Kordel. Numerierung hier im Gegensatz zu obigem Exemplar handschriftlich. Papierbezug der Deckel an den Kanten leicht berieben, kleine beriebene Stelle auf der Fläche des hinteren Deckels - ca. 1 cm.
