Édition originale peu courante du second recueil poétique de Marie de La Hire, illustré de 20 bois réalisés par l'auteur et par Gaspard-Maillol. Illustrateur et graveur, ce-dernier est également connu comme le papetier fondateur de l'atelier Montval : il a d'ailleurs fabriqué le papier pur fil sur lequel cet ouvrage est imprimé. Tirage limité à 500 exemplaires (celui-ci ne le n°12) signés par l'auteur au justificatif de tirage. Envoi autographe signé « A M. Georges Dupau / très sympathique souvenir de l'auteur / Marie d'Espie de la Hire ». À sa mort en 1938, Georges Dupau effectuera un legs à L'Académie française pour l'attribution du prix portant son nom, décerné jusqu'en 1989. Épouse de l'écrivain de feuilletons à succès Jean de La Hire (pseudonyme d'Adolphe d'Espie), Marie d'Espie signa elle aussi plusieurs romans sentimentaux et recueils de poèmes. Peintre, elle fut proche de Picabia, dont l'atelier était voisin du sien, et fit paraître en 1920 une monographie à son sujet. 3 bibliothèques françaises le recensent dans leurs fonds catalogués : Le Mans, Bnf (Tolbiac et Arsenal), Bibliothèque Marguerite Durand (Paris).
